Fatal Crash in the Van Dorn Area

Franconia Police District – Around 3:05 a.m. on Sunday, October 6, a driver of a 1995 Lexus ES300 was traveling northbound on Van Dorn Street, near Vine Street. As the Lexus approached a railroad bridge underpass it left the roadway and struck a concrete bridge pillar.

The driver, 21-year-old Devin Austin of Triangle Virginia, died at the scene. The front passenger, 23-year-old Aminata Sesay of Alexandria, Virginia, also died at the scene. The 20-year-old rear passenger was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates that speed may have been a factor in the crash. Alcohol factor is still undetermined as the police crash reconstruction unit continues its investigation.
