Police Shoot Man Following an Altercation

Mount Vernon Police District – Officers were called to 9155 Richmond Highway on Wednesday, October 30 at 5:59 p.m. for a fight involving indivduals at the location. Several individuals were assaulted and injured by a male subject. Officers responded and encountered the male subject.

A responding officer was assaulted by this individual. During that altercation, an officer discharged his weapon hitting the man. The man was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. Those individuals injured by the subject were taken to local hospitals with non life-threatening injuries.

The case is under active investigation by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau and Internal Affairs.
