Fatal Crash in the Lorton Area

Police are investigating a single-vehicle, fatal crash that occurred in the Lorton area around 4:18a.m. on Saturday, August 2. Juan Gomez, 24, of the Lorton area, was operating a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Pohick Road just past Lorton Station, at a high rate of speed. He lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a tree on the passenger side.

A nearby resident heard the crash and called police. Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed is a factor in the crash. It is unknown at this time is alcohol was a factor. Gomez was not wearing his seatbelt.
