Human Trafficking Panel Today; GMU, 2-4 p.m.

Detective Bill Woolf of the FCPD Human Trafficking Unit, will present as a part of panel addressing multiple aspects of the human trafficking and teen sex trafficking situation in Northern Virginia (today) Monday, April 27, from 2 – 4 p.m. in Room 1201, Merten Hall, 4441 George Mason Boulevard, Fairfax, VA 22030.

Presenters on the panel include:

  • U.S. Representative Barbara Comstock, Virginia 10th Congressional District,
  • Delegate Tim Hugo, Majority Caucus Chairman
  • Beth Saunders, Business Chair, Just Ask Prevention Project
  • Deepa Patel, Coordinator, Sex Offender Program; Director Gang Intervention and Sexual Exploitation Programs, Multicultural Clinical Center
  • John Cook, Braddock District Supervisor

According to Detective Woolf, most recent data from the Human Trafficking Task Force indicates the following;

  • The Task Force has received 244 leads since its inception
  • 133 victims have been recovered and offered services
  • 352 victims have been identified (20% are juveniles)
  • 128 suspects have been identified through investigations
  • 15% of the leads are gang-related.

The program is being held by the George Mason University Terrorism, Transnational Crime and Corruption Center (TraCCC), a part of the School of Policy, Government and International Affairs.
