Response Guidelines to Hostage / Barricade Situations
The Fairfax County Police Department is releasing newly established policy guidelines for our response to hostage and/or barricaded person situations. Our newly released, publically accessible policy is titled General Order 520.3. The sanctity of life and our community’s safety are paramount responsibilities of our department. These are elements which are embedded within our public service mission. Colonel Edwin C Roessler Jr., Chief of Police, is committed to sharing information with the community to ensure the highest level of transparency, insight, and trust.
