TRAFFIC PURSUIT WITH APPREHENSION: Lee Highway/Pickwick Rd. 1/5/16, 5:42 p.m. Detectives from the fugitive unit identified a subject who was wanted in another jurisdiction, driving a Mazda sedan. When they initiated a traffic stop, the suspect fled and crashed a short distance away. He then bailed out of the vehicle and was apprehended a short time later. The police helicopter and a K9 team assisted in the search. Andrew Lam, 29, of Centreville, was charged with hit and run, failure to obey a lawful command of a law enforcement officer, violation of a protective order and failure to appear on a felony offense.

ROBBERY: 3300 block of Swallow Ct. 1/5/16, 5:57 a.m. A 53-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle when she was approached by a man who displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim told the suspect she had no money and he fled. There were no injuries. The suspect was described as being black, around 6 feet tall and about 160 pounds. He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and a black ski mask.
