GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Traffic: Closures will occur along the ramp from northbound I-95 to Route 1 (Exit 161) and the ramp from southbound I-95 to Backlick Road (Exit 167) between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly Tuesday, October 18 through Thursday, October 20 for asphalt patching, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. Traffic flow will be maintained on the ramps during the patching work; however, motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes.

Fall Driving: Be Alert for Deer
Pence Gate in Mount Vernon/Route 1 area will be closed for construction for about six weeks. Expect major traffic delays. Build time into your schedule and find alternate routes, if possible.

COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE INITIATIVE: Officers from our Motor Carrier Safety Unit (MCS), along with MCS officers from the Virginia State Police and from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office began a commercial vehicle enforcement initiative on October 10. This concentrated effort will continue along the Lee Jackson Memorial Highway (Route 50) corridor in Chantilly, until October 21. So far, 18 commercial motor vehicles and two trailers have been inspected. 58 violations have been discovered and 10 of the vehicles have been placed out of service.

Officers from around the county will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the West Springfield District on Friday, October 21, 2016. Please don’t drink and drive.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: 7010 Clifton Road. 10/19/16, 3:54 p.m. Officers responded to an alarm at Clifton Elementary School which is vacant. They found a broken window and during a subsequent search, two juveniles; one male, one female, were found inside the school. They were taken into custody and returned to their parents. Petitions will be sought charging both with destruction of property and unlawful entry.

BURGLARY: 5200 block of Navajo Drive. 10/19/16, 6:38 a.m. The homeowner called to report that an unknown man had broken a window to get into the home and was still inside. Responding officers located the man inside the home and took him into custody. The victim was not injured. Ni Ngoc Nguyen, 34, of Alexandria, was charged with burglary.
