Mount Vernon District – We are currently searching for a 32-year-old man after a barricade situation in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. We were initially at the location to serve an arrest warrant. When we went to enter the motel room, the suspect, Alton Thodos, made threats against himself if we came in. A woman was in the room with him at a the time but came out, giving our officers an opportunity to get inside. Just before officers got inside, Thodos went up through the ceiling and into the attic and was able to come down and escape through another part of the building before we were able to secure the whole perimeter. Believing he was still in the ceiling, our Special Operations Division tried to use tear gas to get him to come out. A short while later, detectives gathered surveillance footage showing he left the building.

Thodos is wanted for active warrants on grand larceny, credit card theft, credit card fraud and a probation violation. He is described as 6’1”, 175 pounds, with a beard, wearing a red hat and a white shirt. Thodos may be driving a silver 2013 BMW X1 with Virginia tags UZE-8869.

We will continue to search Thodos but we are asking anyone with information on where he might be to please call our non-emergency number at 703-691-2131. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers by visiting http://www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org, or calling 1-866-411-TIPS.
