FATAL PEDESTRIAN CRASH ON RICHMOND HIGHWAY

Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred at 5:57 a.m. at Richmond Highway and Anderson Lane in Alexandria.

Preliminarily, detectives determined that the drivers of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala and 2014 Nissan Altima were traveling south on Richmond Highway at Anderson Lane. The driver of the Impala initially struck Phillip Hester, 62, who was walking outside of a crosswalk. Hester was subsequently struck by the driver of the Altima. Both drivers remained at the scene. Hester was declared deceased at the scene. Preliminary, speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor for the drivers in the crash.
