TUT Arrests Maryland Man for Month Long Shoplifting Spree
McLean Police District – Detectives from our Tyson’s Urban Team (TUT) arrested a man who has been stealing merchandise from Sak’s Fifth Avenue for more than a month.
At approximately 12:40 p.m. on Friday, detectives were alerted by the Loss Prevention Team at Sak’s Fifth Avenue regarding a familiar shoplifter actively concealing merchandise. Before the detectives’ arrival, the suspect left the store without completing a purchase. He left with a jacket valued at more than $3,500. Detectives found Olatune Oladinni, 41, of Maryland in the parking garage and took him into custody. As the investigation unfolded, detectives learned the Loss Prevention Team had been conducting an ongoing inquiry into Oladinni’s thefts since October.

Detectives retrieved additional merchandise from his apartment, worth more than $49,000. Detectives also discovered burglarious tools utilized in his thefts. These tools are consistent with circumventing alarm systems on merchandise.

Oladinni was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Grand Larceny, Larceny with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Burglarious Tools. He was held on a $3000 secured bond. Detectives are continuing to work with loss prevention for additional charges.
