Heavy Traffic and Determination Helps Detectives Arrest Organized Retail Theft Crew

McLean Police District – Detectives from our Tysons Urban Team (TUT) arrested a retail theft crew after running out of a retail store with merchandise.

Around 5:05 p.m. on Friday, detectives received an alert from loss prevention. A retail theft crew grabbed over a dozen designer handbags, totaling over $4500 in value and ran from the store. The suspects entered an awaiting Chevrolet Suburban and attempted to flee the area.

Detectives launched a thorough search along the southbound stretch of Interstate 495 in Annandale. Despite the heavy traffic in the mainline lanes, they navigated the Express Lane to catch up to the crew. Collaborating with the Virginia State Police, the detectives successfully apprehended all four suspects on the interstate. All four were transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged.

The detectives successfully retrieved the stolen merchandise and it was returned to Bloomingdale’s.
