The Commencement of Seasoned Officers: FCPD’s “Option 5” Graduation
Fairfax County, VA – After completing 8-weeks of training, experienced officers are graduating Option 5 and starting their assignments in Fairfax County.

Twenty-one graduates from 10 different agencies walked across the stage today to be congratulated by their department’s Chief of Police. Amidst the diversity of experiences these officers bring, their integration into FCPD marks a significant advancement in strengthening the department’s capabilities.
The Option 5 Lateral Academy not only streamlines their transition but also ensures they are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles. As they embark on this journey, they will not only enhance the department’s effectiveness but also contribute to the safety and security of Fairfax County residents.
The FCPD recruits have various experiences from prior agencies that they bring to our department. Our new officers come from departments in New York, Tennessee, Florida, in addition to several federal agencies.
We look forward to all the experience these officers bring to FCPD.
