Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting that Left One Dead and One Injured

Mason Police District Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Annandale that left one juvenile deceased and another injured.

On June 28 at 11:18 p.m., officers responded to the 4100 block of Wadsworth Court in Annandale for a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two male juvenile victims. A 16-year-old juvenile sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body and a 14-year-old juvenile suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers rendered aid and both victims were taken to the hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the 14-year-old juvenile succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The 16-year-old victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the victims were walking together in the area. A vehicle approached the victims and the suspects inside the vehicle began shooting at the victims. Detectives do not believe this was a random act.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances that led up to the shooting and are asking the community to review any home surveillance footage in the area to assist in the investigation.
