Man Arrested After Reckless Discharge in Woodlawn
Mount Vernon Police District – A man was quickly arrested by officers after he recklessly discharged his gun, striking a commercial building in Woodlawn early Sunday morning.
On October 13, at 12:58 a.m., officers responded to the 8700 block of Richmond Highway in Woodlawn for the report of a man with a gun. Officers determined that the suspect discharged his gun, striking a commercial building after a dispute with employees. The suspect then fled before officers arrived and no one was injured.
Officers quickly set up a perimeter and began searching for the suspect. They located Juan Cruz Cruz, 19, of Alexandria in a nearby shopping center and took him into custody. A firearm was recovered near the scene.

Cruz Cruz was charged with five counts of Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, five counts of Discharging a Firearm in Public, Use of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Attempted Malicious Wounding. Cruz Cruz is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
