Final Wave Complete! FCPD’s Road Shark Delivers Outstanding Results

Fairfax County, VA –The Fairfax County Police Department has successfully wrapped up the 2024 “Road Shark” campaign, issuing nearly 35,000 citations and warnings to dangerous drivers on Fairfax County roadways over the last five waves. Between October 14 and October 20, officers issued 7,000 citations and warnings, with over 800 having been for speeding violations on our roadways.

Since March, FCPD officers and Virginia State troopers across the county have been dedicated to educating drivers and issuing citations for unsafe driving practices. The Road Shark campaign continues to show a positive effect throughout the area, leading to hundreds of arrests for Driving While Intoxicated and hundreds of citations for Reckless Driving and the Use of Handheld Communication Devices While Driving.

As we conclude this campaign, we remind drivers to allow plenty of time to get to their destination, avoid distracted driving, be mindful of their speed, and never drink and drive.

Road Shark may be over, but our officers will continue to be out in full force, enforcing traffic laws, educating our community, and ensuring the safety of our roadways as part of their commitment to the residents of Fairfax County.
