Detectives Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Springfield
West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on October 30 in Springfield.
On October 30, at 3:53 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Field Master Drive and Old Keene Mill Road in Springfield.
Detectives determined that Mohammed Rastegar, 72, of Springfield was traveling eastbound on Old Keene Mill Road on a 2018 Honda motorcycle. The driver of a 2017 Honda Civic was traveling northbound on Field Master Drive and attempted to make a left turn onto westbound Old Keene Mill Road when it was struck by the Honda motorcycle. Rastegar was taken to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition.
Later that evening, Rastegar succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Preliminarily, speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
