Update: Crime Solvers Tip Leads to Arrest of Idylwood Peeper
McLean Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have arrested a man linked to eight peeping cases in Idylwood after a Crime Solvers tip.
On April 9, officers responded to the 2100 block of Evans Court in Idylwood for a peeping call. The victim reported she observed a man peeping through her window. Detectives from our Sex Crimes Unit were assigned the case to investigate.
Through their investigation, detectives believed the suspect was linked to an additional 7 cases.
On December 26, detectives received a significant breakthrough when a Crime Solvers tip was submitted regarding these cases. The tipster, who had seen an FCPD press release earlier that month, provided information that helped detectives identify the suspect.
Detectives identified Jose Ramirez, 49, of Idylwood, as the suspect and linked him to all eight cases.
On January 8, Ramirez was arrested and charged with five counts of Peeping into an Occupied Dwelling. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and has since been released.
