Time for Confession: Chantilly Man Arrested for Church Larceny and School Burglary
Sully Police District— Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division have arrested a man after he stole a donation box from a church and burglarized a school.
On January 30, at 7:51 p.m., officers responded to the 13800 block of Poplar Tree Road in Chantilly for a larceny case. The complainant reported that a man entered a church and stole a donation box filled with money. Officers located the man a short distance away, and he attempted to flee on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Thomas Hamilton, 58, of Chantilly was taken into custody.
Through their investigation, Hamilton was linked to a burglary that occurred on January 28 in the 4500 block of Walney Road in Chantilly, where he entered a school and stole money. Hamilton was charged with Burglary, Destruction of Property, and Petit Larceny. He is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
