Suspect Bulldozed by Bad Decisions
McLean Police District— Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division have charged a man after he stole a bulldozer and sold it under false pretense.
On August 11, at 10 a.m., officers responded to Chain Bridge Road and Dulles Toll Road in McLean for a larceny of a bulldozer. The complainant reported that someone stole a bulldozer from a construction site under the guise that it needed maintenance. The bulldozer was towed away from the site only to be tracked by detectives to Laurel County, Kentucky, via GPS tracking two days later.
Detectives coordinated with Laurel County Sheriff’s Office to locate and recover the bulldozer. The bulldozer was in possession of a victim who purchased it from Facebook Marketplace under false pretense from the suspect.
After further investigation, detectives learned Dushon Raynard Sheperd, 34, of Michigan stole the bulldozer and sold it to the victim. Detectives obtained a warrant for Larceny by False Pretense. Sheperd was arrested by Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and is awaiting extradition to Fairfax County.
