Detectives Nail Down Suspect in Rose Hill Tool Theft
Franconia Police District – Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from the Auto Crimes Enforcement (ACE) Unit, have arrested a man connected to a theft from a vehicle in Rose Hill.
On December 30, 2025, officers responded to a larceny from a vehicle in the 4500 block of Roundhill Road in Rose Hill. The suspect forced entry into the van and stole multiple power tools around 4:45 p.m. A witness observed a subject removing items from a work van and took photos of the suspect and the vehicle.
Through their investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance footage and vehicle information, which led to the identification of Jeffrey Kranz, 58, of no fixed address, as the suspect.

On January 7, officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver eluded them. On January 8, with the assistance of ACE, officers were alerted to the vehicle used in the larceny following a License Plate Reader (LPR) alert. Officers later located the vehicle in the 6100 block of Richmond Highway in Fair Haven, where Kranz was taken into custody.
Kranz was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with Grand Larceny, Stolen Property with Intent to Sell, and Disregard Police Command to Stop Endangerment. He is being held at $2,500 bond.
