UPDATE: Detectives Arrest Juvenile for Homicide in Huntington

Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have arrested a 16-year-old male responsible for last week’s homicide following a comprehensive investigation. On May 13 detectives located and arrested the juvenile. He was charged with First Degree Murder and transported to the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center where he was held on a detention order.

On May 9 at 12:15 a.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Farrington Avenue in Huntington for a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located Auner Chavez Diaz, 19, of Alexandria, between two apartment buildings with multiple stab wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced deceased on scene. The assailant left the scene before officers arrived. The suspect and victim are known to each other and there is no threat to the community.

Detectives continue to conduct interviews and process evidence recovered from the scene to determine the circumstances that led up to the fatal stabbing.

Mount Vernon Police District- Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a fatal stabbing that left one man dead in Huntington.

Today at 12:15 a.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Farrington Avenue in Huntington for a stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located Auner Chavez Diaz, 19, of Alexandria, between two apartment buildings with multiple stab wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced deceased on scene. The assailant left the scene before officers arrived. Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau responded to assume the investigation.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’7”, and wearing all black clothing and face mask.
