Man Arrested for DWI Following Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Lincolnia

Mason Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) have arrested a man in connection with a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred this morning in Lincolnia.

At approximately 3:38 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Little River Turnpike and Southland Avenue for reports of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.

Preliminarily, CRU detectives determined Stephen Roberts, 73, of Alexandria, was crossing Little River Turnpike when he was struck by an eastbound 2018 Honda Civic. Roberts was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver continued a short distance before pulling into a nearby parking lot and calling 911.

The driver showed signs of impairment, and officers from our Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Enforcement Squad responded and assumed the DWI investigation. The driver, Claudio Medina Osorio, 19, of Alexandria, was arrested and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and is currently being held without bond.

Speed remains under investigation as a factor in the crash.
