West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred yesterday evening near Kings Park.
On June 29 at 9:36 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Braddock Road and Kings Park Drive for a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.
Preliminarily, CRU detectives determined Paul Economon Jr., 26, of Clifton, was operating a 2013 Honda CB1100 motorcycle eastbound on Braddock Road when he struck a 2021 Toyota Corolla that was making a left turn from westbound Braddock Road onto Kings Park Drive. The driver of the Toyota remained on scene.
Economon was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Preliminarily, detectives believe speed was a factor in the crash for the motorcyclist. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
