Fairfax County, VA – Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division (CID) have arrested a man in connection with a series of commercial burglaries targeting medical offices across Fairfax County.

Since May, detectives have investigated three burglaries in the Mason, McLean, and Fair Oaks Police Districts involving a similar suspect and circumstances. In each case, the suspect targeted a closed medical office and forced entry into the business. Surveillance footage showed the suspect dressed in professional attire while wearing gloves and a medical-style mask.

On May 19, officers responded to the 8200 block of Willow Oaks Corporate Drive for a commercial burglary. Surveillance footage showed the suspect entering the closed business and stealing cameras, camera equipment, and cash. During the investigation, detectives located stolen camera equipment that had been pawned and identified Carlos Anthony Mitchell, 67, of Woodbridge, as the suspect.

As the investigation continued, detectives linked Mitchell to two additional commercial burglaries in September. On September 3, a medical office in the 1300 block of Beverly Road in McLean was burglarized. On September 11, another medical office in the 13100 block of Route 50 in Fair Oaks was burglarized. Surveillance footage from both incidents showed a similarly dressed suspect wearing a blazer, white dress shirt, gloves, a blue bucket hat, and a medical-style mask.

After a thorough investigation, detectives determined Mitchell was responsible for all three burglaries. On September 29, detectives assigned to the Fugitive Track and Apprehension Unit arrested Mitchell and transported him to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
