Fairfax County, VA – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are conducting a death investigation of an inmate at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC).
On October 8, at 7:25 a.m., Brendan Brown, 38, of Springfield, was found unresponsive in his single cell at the ADC. Deputies and EMS immediately began performing life-saving measures. Brown was later pronounced deceased. Detectives continue to investigate Brown’s death and preliminarily, foul play is not suspected.
Brown has been in custody of the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office and incarcerated at the ADC since the morning of October 8, 2026.
By policy, the FCPD investigates all Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office in-custody deaths.
