Fairfax County, VA – The Fairfax County Police Department has concluded the 2026 Road Shark campaign, issuing over 60,000 citations and warnings to dangerous drivers on Fairfax County roadways over the last four waves. This represents a 23% increase from 2025, when officers issued approximately 50,000 citations and warnings. During the final wave, conducted from October 12 through October 18, officers issued 19,272 citations and warnings.
Since April, Fairfax County police officers and Virginia State Troopers have worked together to improve roadway safety through proactive traffic enforcement and driver education. The Road Shark campaign has resulted in hundreds of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrests and citations for Reckless Driving and the Unlawful Use of Handheld Devices While Driving, reinforcing the commitment to reducing dangerous driving behaviors across Fairfax County.

As the Road Shark campaign concludes, we remind all drivers to do their part in keeping our roads safe. Plan ahead, stay focused behind the wheel, obey posted speed limits, and never drive under the influence.
