UPDATE – Suspect Arrested in Alexandria City
Carlton Thorne Jr., 48, of Alexandria was arrested on Saturday, October 12 in the City of Alexandria. Fairfax County detectives have obtained three warrants charging Thorne with bank robberies that occurred in Fairfax County. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
Bank Robbery in the Annandale Area
Franconia Police District – Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred on Thursday, October 10, at the TD Bank, located at 7209 Little River Turnpike. Around 4:30 p.m. a man entered the bank and passed the 31-year-old teller a note demanding money. The victim was unable to give him cash so he fled the bank. There were no injuries.
The suspect was described as black, in his 40s. He left the area in an older model, box-style Jeep Cherokee. Detectives believe this same suspect may be responsible for several other bank robberies.
