Every year thousands of vehicles are broken into; objects, money, valuable belongings are stolen across Fairfax County almost every day. These cases are often challenging to investigate; apprehensions don’t often occur.

Early this morning, Friday, January 16 at around 1 a.m., however, officers in the West Springfield District had a different experience.

Officers received a complaint of a “suspicious person” in a vehicle parked in the dark in the 8900 block of Victoria Road in Burke. Officers spoke to the people in the vehicle and, after a brief investigation, charged one of the occupants with grand larceny. Objects were confiscated and the investigation is continuing.

Rory Wayshner,18, of Lakepointe Drive, Burke was arrested.

Neighbors, once again, play a valuable role in helping keep Fairfax County neighborhoods safe.
