Police Cite Trucks in Annual Safety Effort
Motor Carrier Safety (MCS) officers from agencies across the region were out in full force at a multi-jurisdictional truck enforcement inspection event on Thursday, May 28 at E.C. Lawrence Park.
Inspectors closely inspected every aspect involved in safe trucking; brakes, proper licensures, lighting and steering components. In just under four hours, officers checked 103 trucks; placed 24 of those out of service for serious safety infractions, and cited 153 total violations.
Fairfax County MCS officers are a squad of eight (four full-time and four part-time) who operate out of the agency’s Operations Support Bureau’s Traffic Safety Unit. They assist with crash investigations involving commercial motor vehicles and patrol the roadways for unsafe dangerous trucks.
Present at the safety check were: Officers from Fairfax County, Virginia State Police, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Herndon, Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, Manassas City, Metro Washington Airports Authority, and DMV Police.
