Detectives Investigate Deadly Single Car Crash in Burke
West Springfield Police District – 46-year-old, Shahram Johanshad of Fairfax was killed when the 2010 Nissan Altima he was driving left the roadway and crashed into two trees. Officers were sent to the area of the Fairfax County Parkway and Waterline Drive shortly before 11:30 last night when the crash was reported. They located the car and Johanshad; the sole occupant. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department personnel were also on scene and pronounced Johanshad deceased. Crash Reconstruction detectives were called to the scene. Their initial investigation revealed that the Altima was traveling northbound on the Fairfax County Parkway prior to Waterline Dr. While attempting to negotiate a slight turn, the Altima went off the roadway to the left, then traveled back across and off the roadway to the right. The Altima came to rest after striking two trees. Speed appears to be a factor. It is not yet known if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
