McLean Detectives Put Copper Thief Behind Bars

McLean District Station – A Vienna man is facing nine felony charges after detectives identified who was behind copper thefts in the McLean area. The man, later identified as Timothy Price, 41, targeted commercial buildings and older vacant homes set to be demolished. Price broke into the properties, cut out and stole copper material. After each theft, he would take the copper to scrap yards to sell it.
Detectives have been working copper theft cases involving Price dating back to November of 2017. After a thorough investigation, detectives caught Price on February 9, when he was attempting to steal more copper. The stolen copper is valued at over $5,000. Price was charged with four counts of burglary, four counts of larceny with intent to sell, and possession of burglarious tools. Price is currently being held without bond. More charges are possible as the investigation continues.
