Coordinated Response Leads to Quick Arrest Following Non-Fatal Shooting
Fair Oaks District –Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau have charged a suspect in connection with yesterday’s non-fatal shooting that occurred near Legato.
On May 28, at 5:28 p.m., officers responded to the 12300 block of W Oaks Drive near Legato for a reported shooting. Officers located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. The victim was transported in life-threatening condition to a local hospital and later downgraded to stable condition.
Detectives preliminarily learned that the victim was riding a motorized bike when the driver of a car stopped and got out. After a brief verbal exchange, the shooter produced a firearm, shot into the air, and then shot the victim. The shooter fled the area in a Toyota Camry prior to officers arriving.
Responding officers immediately saturated the area and obtained a license plate number for the suspect vehicle. Shortly after, the Real Time Crime Center received an alert from a Flock license plate reader and notified the Sully District Neighborhood Patrol Unit, who quickly located the vehicle in Centreville. With assistance from the Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Team, officers conducted a coordinated traffic stop and took Milad Attai, 26, of Fairfax, into custody.

Attai was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with Malicious Wounding, Reckless Discharge, and Use of Firearm in Commission of a Felony. He was held on no bond.
