Active Shooting Investigation in Burke
West Springfield Police District – Our Major Crimes Bureau and Crime Scene detectives continue to investigate after two men and a woman were found dead inside a home in the 6100 block of Wicklow Drive in Burke.
Officers initially responded to a report of a domestic disturbance around 9:11 p.m. last night. A woman reported that a family member had threatened her with a gun. During the violent encounter, one adult male was able to flee the home to summon help.
Arriving patrol officers encountered an armed man who fired shots at them. Two officers sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. After the exchange of gunfire, the suspect barricaded himself in the home. Our SWAT officers searched the home, finding two adult men and an adult woman dead.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will be conducting autopsies to confirm cause and manner of death. The identity of the victims will be released pending next of kin notifications.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
