Detectives Pressed on Ironing Out Details of Laundromat Burglaries

Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division are working to unravel the threads of three commercial burglaries of laundry-related businesses they believe may be connected. Detectives are asking for help from the community in identifying the man pictured in surveillance video.

On December 30 at 12:30 a.m., officers responded to the report of a burglary at 8752 Richmond Highway in the Woodlawn Shopping Center. The location is currently in the process of being converted into a dry-cleaning business. A suspect broke a window to the business and entered. Nothing appeared to be taken. The suspect was wearing bright yellow gloves, a black hooded zip-up jacket, black pants, black mask, brown and gray shoes. Detectives located surveillance footage of the man which can be seen below:

On the same night, officers responded to a report of a burglary at the Stars Laundromat located at 8792 Sacramento Drive in the Woodlawn Shopping Center. A window had been smashed to gain entry into the business. Cash was taken from the business.

On January 8, just before 8:30 a.m., officers again responded to a report of a burglary at the Stars Laundromat. A burglar forced entry into the business by breaking glass. The suspect then took cash from the business and fled. Detectives were able to obtain video of the suspect. The suspect, pictured below, is described as a white male, wearing a black ski-mask, black jacket, blue jeans, and black and white shoes.
