West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a three-vehicle crash that left one man dead in Burke.

Yesterday at 5:43 p.m., officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash at Fairfax County Parkway and Burke Lake Road.

Preliminarily, a 2014 Infiniti Q-70 was traveling southbound on Fairfax County Parkway when the driver made several lane changes before veering onto the right shoulder, striking a traffic signal pole. The Infiniti then struck a 2007 Lexus RX 350 stopped at a red light on Burke Lake Road, causing the Lexus to strike a 2024 Mazda MX-5.

The driver of the Infiniti, Daniel Locke Jr., 82, of Fairfax Station, was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The occupants of the Lexus and Mazda were not injured.

Preliminarily, detectives believe speed was a factor in the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
