Detectives Arrest Maryland Man in Tire Theft Series

Fair Oaks Police District— Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division have arrested a man connected to multiple tire and rim thefts in the County.

On October 24, 2025, at 10:45 a.m., officers responded to the Extended Stay located at 12055 Route 50 in Fair Oaks for a Larceny. The complainant reported that all his tires were stolen from his vehicle. Detectives from our Criminal Investigations Division were notified and assumed the investigation.

Over the following months, detectives investigated and responded to numerous tire thefts in the Fair Oaks district. During the investigation, a vehicle was identified and linked to the thefts.

On February 1, officers from the Town of Herndon responded to a license plate reader alert near the area of Dranesville Road and Herndon Parkway in the Town of Herndon. Herndon officers located the vehicle and the driver was detained. FCPD detectives responded and through their investigation, detectives connected David Mccalop, 42, of Maryland to the below incidents.

McCalop was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with eight counts of Grand Larceny, eight counts of Larceny with Intent to Sell, and eight counts of Conspiracy to Commit Larceny. He was later released on a $12,000 bond.

Detectives continue to investigate McCalop’s involvement in additional reported thefts.
