Detectives Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash in Springfield
West Springfield Police District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a fatal single-vehicle crash in Springfield that left one person dead and two injured.
Yesterday at 3:18 p.m., officers responded to Old Keene Mill Road near Tiverton Drive for a crash involving a 2025 Toyota Camry.
Preliminarily, detectives determined the driver of the Toyota Camry, Charity McGhee, 49, of Alexandria, was traveling eastbound on Old Keene Mill Road when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a guardrail. McGhee was pronounced deceased at the scene. An adult male passenger was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition. A second adult male passenger was transported to a local hospital in non-life-threatening condition. Two dogs were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash and both taken into the custody of the Fairfax County Department of Animal Services.
Preliminarily, speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. Detectives continue to investigate if alcohol was a factor.
Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure the victims’ families are receiving appropriate resources and assistance.
