How 6 Months Changed 55 Futures: Session 91 Graduates from Academy
Fairfax County, VA – After six months of intense training, 55 recruits officially graduated today from the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy, marking the beginning of their careers in public safety. The graduating class includes 42 new police officers who will join the Fairfax County Police Department and 13 deputy sheriffs who will serve with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office.

Over the past six months, recruits have participated in comprehensive training designed to prepare them for the demands of modern law enforcement and public safety service. Their training included firearms instruction, defensive tactics, tactical training, driver training, physical fitness and conditioning, crisis response, and scenario-based exercises that mirror real-world situations they will encounter in the field.
This graduating class also reflects the diversity of the communities they will serve. Together, the recruits speak 13 different languages to include Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, Uzbek, Mandarin Chinese, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Thai. They reflect a rich mix of backgrounds from over 12 countries including Brazil, Afghanistan, Switzerland, Lebanon, Iran, Puerto Rico, and Barbados. Their varied perspectives and experiences strengthen their ability to connect with our community.
Many members of Session 91 bring valuable experience from prior careers. 12 of these graduating officers are current or former service membersrepresenting the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, including combat veterans, special operations support personnel, helicopter pilots, infantry leaders, and Presidential Security Forces members.
Education is a major strength of the class, with 38 college graduates and numerous advanced degrees to include, cybersecurity, business administration, homeland security, international affairs, philosophy and more! Their unique backgrounds demonstrate the FCPD’s ongoing commitment to recruiting talented individuals who reflect the communities they protect and serve.
