Detectives Seek Assistance Following Robbery in Springfield

Franconia Police District – Detectives with our Criminal Investigations Division are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a robbery that occurred in Springfield.

On June 14, 2026, at approximately 9:10 p.m., officers responded to the 5200 block of Montgomery Street for a robbery. An unknown man approached the victim’s car and asked for a ride. When she declined, the man climbed onto the hood of her car, demanded money, threatened to harm the victim and her 8-year-old daughter, and implied he was armed by reaching into a bag. After the victim provided money, the man got off the vehicle and fled the scene before police arrived. No one was injured.

Through their investigation, detectives determined that approximately one hour before the robbery, the same man was observed intentionally stepping into traffic along the 7300 block of Braddock Road.

During detectives’ canvass of the area, they discovered surveillance footage of the suspect from a home nearby.
