Fairfax County, VA – The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) is proud to announce that our Connect Fairfax County program has surpassed 1,000 community registrations, marking a significant milestone in our efforts to strengthen public safety through technology, collaboration, and community partnerships.

Connect Fairfax County is a voluntary program that allows residents and businesses to register their privately owned security cameras with FCPD. When a crime occurs, investigators can identify registered cameras near the incident and contact participating community members to request potential video evidence. Registration does not provide officers with direct access to privately owned cameras.

The program serves as an important investigative resource for our Real Time Crime Center (RTCC), helping detectives gather potential evidence, develop leads, and support officers responding to incidents. Rather than spending valuable time canvassing neighborhoods and businesses to locate security cameras, detectives can quickly pinpoint registered cameras near a crime scene and request assistance from participants. This capability can help accelerate investigations, identify suspects, locate missing people, and provide critical information during time-sensitive incidents.

Beyond registration, Connect Fairfax County also provides opportunities for businesses and organizations to voluntarily integrate compatible camera systems with the RTCC, allowing authorized personnel to access designated live video feeds during emergencies and critical incidents. These partnerships enhance real-time situational awareness, support coordinated emergency responses, and provide officers with valuable information before arriving on scene.

A Milestone Made Possible by Our Community

Surpassing 1,000 registrations represents more than a technological achievement. It demonstrates the willingness of Fairfax County residents and businesses to take an active role in keeping their communities safe. Each registration strengthens a growing network of partnerships and expands our ability to investigate crimes efficiently while respecting individual privacy.

As the program continues to grow, FCPD remains committed to encouraging additional residents, businesses, and community organizations to participate. Together, we are building a safer, more connected Fairfax County through innovative technology and meaningful community collaboration.
