Fairfax County, VA – Wave 3 of the Fairfax County Police Department’s Road Shark traffic safety campaign concluded on August 16. Conducted in partnership with Virginia State Police (VSP), the high-visibility initiative targets speeding, reckless driving, distracted driving, and other unsafe behaviors to improve roadway safety in Fairfax County.

Between August 10 and August 16, officers issued 16,235 citations and warnings, including 6,162 citations and 10,073 warnings, making Wave 3 the largest enforcement effort of 2026. These results highlight the continued importance of traffic safety and driver accountability across Fairfax County.

The Road Shark campaign emphasizes coordinated, strategic enforcement efforts to deter dangerous driving. With increased patrols and visibility, FCPD police officers and VSP troopers are working to change driver behavior, improve public safety, and protect lives on our roads.

Road Shark remains a key part of the Department’s ongoing commitment to traffic safety and crash reduction efforts throughout Fairfax County.
