Sully Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are investigating a domestic-related murder-suicide after two people were found deceased inside a Centreville home yesterday evening.
On September 9, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the report of a shooting at a residence in the 6300 block of Sharps Drive in Centreville. When officers entered the home, they located Brandon Brown, 31, of Centreville and his wife Lavinia Brown, 31, of Centreville suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced both deceased at the scene.
Preliminarily, detectives believe Brandon shot his wife, Lavinia, before shooting himself. Cartridge casings and a firearm were recovered at the scene. Three children who also reside at the home were inside at the time of the incident and were not physically injured.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct autopsies to confirm the cause and manner of death.
