McLean Police District – Detectives from our Tysons Urban Team (TUT), with assistance from our Major Crimes Bureau and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department, have arrested a 44-year-old man accused of unlawfully recording multiple victims, including a juvenile, in the Tysons area.
On August 16 and 17 at 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Chain Bridge Road in Tysons for reports of unlawful filming. Detectives learned that an unknown man used his cellphone to unlawfully record three victims, two 18-year-old women and a 16-year-old girl while visiting multiple stores in the Tysons area.
During one incident, a victim and a family member confronted the suspect, but he fled prior to officers’ arrival. Detectives from TUT began their investigation. Detectives utilized Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology and were able to identify the suspect as Shawn Gremminger, 44, of Falls Church.
Gremminger is the ex-President and CEO of the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchasers Coalition.
On August 27, with assistance from the MWAA Police Department, TUT detectives arrested Gremminger at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Gremminger was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with 2 counts of Unlawful Creation of an Image of Another, Unlawful Creation of an Image of a Juvenile, Production of Child Pornography, and 30 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. He was held without bond.
During a search of Gremminger’s electronic devices, detectives discovered evidence indicating there may be additional victims. Detectives are asking anyone with information about these incidents or who believes they may have been a victim to contact our Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 3.
