West Springfield– Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Friday evening in West Springfield.
On September 11 at 9:11 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Braddock Road and Southampton Drive near Annandale for a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.
Preliminarily, CRU detectives determined Russell Edwards, 45, of Burke, was operating a 2025 KTM SMCR 390 motorcycle eastbound on Braddock Road approaching Southampton Drive when he struck a 2015 Toyota Corolla that was making a left turn onto Southampton Drive. Edwards was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition and later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Corolla was uninjured and remained on scene.
Speed and alcohol remain under investigation. CRU detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
