Fair Oaks District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Friday evening in Greenbriar.
On September 18 at 7:27p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Route 50 and Plaza Lane for reports of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.
Preliminarily, CRU detectives determined Theresa Flynn, 53, of Chantilly, was using a mobility wheelchair while crossing Route 50 from south to north not in a crosswalk when she was struck by a Kia Rio traveling westbound. Flynn was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the Kia was uninjured and remained on scene.
Preliminarily, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors for the driver. Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Victim specialists from our Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division have been assigned to ensure that the victim’s family is receiving appropriate resources and assistance.
