Mount Vernon Police District – Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau are seeking the public’s assistance with information about a non-fatal shooting that occurred in Groveton.
On September 12, at 10:25 a.m., officers responded to the 3500 block of Robert E. Lee Place for a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an adult male inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital in life-threatening condition.
Detectives from our Major Crimes Bureau responded and have assumed the investigation.
Preliminary, detectives determined that the victim was driving through a parking lot when the suspect, who was on foot, fired multiple rounds into the victim’s vehicle. After the shooting, the victim continued to drive his vehicle through the parking lot and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles. The suspect fled the area in a vehicle.
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Crime Solvers of Fairfax County is offering up to $5,000, with an additional $5,000 provided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
