Fair Oaks District – Detectives from our Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Sunday in Chantilly.

On October 18 at 3:47 a.m., officers responded to southbound Route 28 near Air and Space Museum Parkway for reports of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.

Preliminarily, CRU detectives determined Juan Linares Terrero, 24, of Sterling, was walking in the right lane of southbound Route 28 when he was struck by a Ford Mustang. Linares Terrero was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Ford was uninjured and remained on scene.

Preliminarily, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors for the driver.  Alcohol is under investigation for the pedestrian.
