Fairfax County, VA – This past Saturday, our district stations partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other Fairfax County agencies for the 31st Annual National Drug Take Back Day. Together, we collected 1,071 pounds of expired or unused medications from community members across Fairfax County.

The results from each district station are highlighted above, reflecting the combined efforts of our officers and community members to promote safer homes and neighborhoods throughout Fairfax County.

Held twice a year, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides residents with a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted or expired medications. Proper disposal helps prevent prescription drug misuse, accidental poisonings, and overdoses while reducing the risks associated with unsecured medications in the home.

Missed Drug Take Back Day? You can still safely dispose of unwanted medications year-round using the secure drug take-back boxes available at each of our eight district police stations.
