Child Drowns in Privately Owned Pool
A 4-year-old boy drowned this past weekend while attending a party at a home in the 900 block of Douglass Drive, in McLean. Police were called to the home around 9:07 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, for a reported drowning. Officers located the boy in the backyard where adults were performing CPR. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It appears the child and his family, from Silver Spring, MD, were attending a party at the home with several other guests. Another child observed the boy in the pool and advised adults.
This tragic death is a reminder to ensure young children or adults who are unable to swim follow water safety guidelines when in or around pools or bodies of water.
