Sledder Struck in McLean
A 6-year-old boy was struck and seriously injured while sledding on a steep driveway in the 7000 block of Matthew Mills Road.
The boy was under adult supervision as his snowboard slid into a passing 2015 Lexus at around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, January 28.
The driver, a 65-year-old McLean resident, heard a loud noise, recognized what had happened, immediately got out and rendered aid to the child. The child was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital in life-threatening condition. He remains in critical condition.
No charges have been placed. Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash. Crash Reconstruction Units are continuing to investigate.
